Katsambanis urges families to check online register
Mums, dads, grandparents and carers have been urged to search the State’s Dangerous and High Risk Offender register for offenders in their community.
Shadow Minister for Police Peter Katsambanis made the call in light of the weakness of the new Labor Government over the release of the dangerous sexual predator known only as "DAL".
“The Dangerous and High Risk Offender register alerts mums and dads to whether there are any registered sex offenders living in their local community,” Mr Katsambanis said.
“It was established by the previous Liberal Government.
“Safety, especially that of our children, should be the paramount consideration of any government.
"Sadly, John Quigley and Mark McGowan have let down communities right across Western Australia with yet another dangerous predator being released to the silent approval of WA Labor.
"With the introduction of the Dangerous and High Risk Offender register, mums and dads can be alerted to whether there are registered sex offenders living in their community.
“The idea was the knowledge could help parents better protect their children from these monsters and was the first of its kind in Australia.
“The register proved to be a success with 100,000 hits in its first year and has even led to the surrender of offenders due to the public pressure.”
